Happy New Year all. I am honored to begin my year as President of the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP). AMP had an incredibly active and productive year in 2009 and it looks to be equally busy for 2010. I enjoyed learning the presidential ‘ropes’ from Past-President Jan Nowak. He was a thoughtful and effective leader and an excellent mentor. Fortunately he is still active in the Society as Past-President, member of Professional Relations Committee and Economic Affairs Committee. I am looking forward to working with the current Council members, many of whom you will be hearing from in this Newsletter, and the new President-Elect, Tim O’Leary

Debra Leonard was presented with the 2009 AMP Leadership Award by Greg Tsongalis, Chair of the 2009 AMP Nominating Committee. 
Debra Leonard accepts the prestigious AMP Leadership Award for 2009.

At the 2009 AMP Annual Meeting, Debra Leonard was presented with the 2009 AMP Leadership Award by Greg Tsongalis, Chair of the 2009 AMP Nominating Committee. 

Debra was Chair of the first AMP Clinical Practice Committee, President of AMP in 2000, leader in the effort for AMP’s first Test Directory, Chair of the Professional Relations Committee and presently AMP’s Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee.

AMP Photo Contest Winners
A number of photos were submitted for the AMP Newsletter 2009 Photo Contest. A selection was made by the Newsletter editors on the basis of originality and picture quality and the winners are Stanley Cohen and Daniel H. Farkas.
