Membership and Professional Development Committee Report

By Helen Fernandes, PhD (fernande@umdnj.edu) and
Rick Press, MD, PhD (pressr@ohsu.edu), Co-Chairs,
Membership and Professional Development Committee

The Membership and Professional Development Committee (MPDC) recently developed a process by which members can form new interest groups to facilitate the discussion of geographic, e.g., licensure or reimbursement, or topic interests.  If you are interested in learning how to form a new interest group, contact Mary Williams (mwilliams@amp.org).  Along with the Training & Education Committee, we are drafting criteria for a new Technologist Travel Award.  We are excited that Council chose to assign 2008 contributions to the Leadership Fund to establish this initiative.  Stay tuned for more information in the near future!  We continue to collect applications for volunteer positions and encourage applications.  Our applicant database is our first source to fulfill committee requests for ad hoc volunteer placements.  MPDC members include Robyn Temple-Smolkin and Shuji Ogino.
