The Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) actively supports personalized genomic medicine through several key clinical practice initiatives and approaches.
AMP's molecular diagnostic experts are at the forefront of personalized genomic medicine. AMP's more than 3,000 members include individuals from academic and community medical centers, government, and the clinical diagnostic industry; including pathologist and doctoral scientist laboratory directors, clinical informaticists, bioinformaticists, technologists, and trainees. Their professional expertise helps promote quality across laboratories and improves patient care delivery.
AMP advances genomic testing and reporting to integrate genomic data into medicine. The organization brings together diverse groups to develop practice guidelines based on the best available evidence for molecular medicine in oncology, genomics, infectious disease, and informatics. Open public comment periods permit interest holders around the globe to provide feedback on AMP guidelines in development. AMP practice guideline development is consistent with the Institute of Medicine (National Academy of Medicine) Clinical Practice Guidelines We Can Trust, utilizing GRADE and other established guideline methodologies.
Subject matter expert volunteers lead and compose AMP working groups. Clinical practice activities and topics addressed can arise from AMP committees, AMP scientific subdivision leadership, AMP members, collaborating organizations, and members of the public. The Clinical Practice Committee prioritizes and approves submitted topics. Have an idea or a suggestion? Contact our Clinical Affairs Team.
The Clinical Practice Committee, Scientific Subdivisions, and Publications Committee work collaboratively with AMP Education and AMP Advocacy groups to address important topics comprehensively. AMP also works collaboratively with many professional organizations. This multi-disciplinary approach supports the comprehensive implementation of genomic medicine in clinical practice. Most AMP-led guideline groups have members from several organizations. AMP external representatives take part in projects led by other organizations. Interested in collaborating with AMP?
