Trailblazers Travel Award
The AMP Trailblazers Award recognizes individuals in molecular diagnostics and medicine who have demonstrated resilience, perseverance, and a deep commitment to our field amid personal or professional challenges. This award honors molecular professionals whose unique experiences have shaped their careers and contributed to innovative approaches in patient care.
We believe that diversity in experience strengthens the molecular diagnostics community, and we celebrate individuals who use their experiences to drive meaningful advancements in healthcare and science.
Award amount: Up to $1,500 in travel reimbursement, plus meeting registration

- Applicants must be an active AMP member from any membership category
- Abstract submission to the 2025 AMP Annual Meeting & Expo is required
- As part of your application, please submit a short essay 250-500 words) describing how your personal experiences and challenges have influenced your career in molecular diagnostics and medicine. We encourage you to share insights on obstacles you have navigated, their impact on your professional journey, and the strengths or perspectives they have given you as a molecular professional.
- Please note, while the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT may be used to help with prose or word count, it may not be used to generate the content itself. We want to hear your story in your own voice.
Tasks for the award applicant to perform:
- Prepare (4) supporting documents:
- Current CV or resume
- 250-500-word short essay describing how your personal experiences and challenges have influenced your career in molecular diagnostics and medicine. We encourage you to share insights on obstacles you have navigated, their impact on your professional journey, and the strengths or perspectives they have given you as a molecular professional.
- Statement of Interest that includes:
- Description of your commitment, experience, and interest in molecular diagnostics.
- Description of what you expect to gain from attending the AMP Annual Meeting. For example, how you believe the knowledge gained will expand your current understanding of molecular diagnostics, how it will benefit you in their current position, and / or how it will further your career.
- Upload a copy of the abstract you submitted for the 2025 AMP Annual Meeting & Expo in either MS Word or PDF format.
- Complete and submit an online application at https://ampawards.secure-platform.com/a
- Make sure that your director submits the required communication that your travel and registration for the annual meeting is not funded by your institution (see below).
Task for the applicant's lab director/person submitting the letter of support to perform:

- Description and amount of financial support provided by the institution:
- Registration: full, partial (amount) or none
- Airfare and/or ground transportation: full, partial (amount) or none
- Hotel: full, partial (amount) or none
- Meals: full, partial (amount) or none
- Include your name and contact information

Award Winners must agree to:
- Attend the Business Session & Awards Presentation on Friday evening at the Annual Meeting to accept your certificate and take photos with other award winners.
- Submit a 250-word report on what you learned/gained from attending the Annual Meeting & Expo. This report is due upon the submission of your travel receipts for reimbursement.
